Bata-Archiv in zweitgrösster Zeitung Tschechiens

MF DNES Zlín: "Archiv ve Svycarsku ukryva fotbalovy pohar Bati" (8.2.2012)

 

Iva Chmelova - Redaktorin der zweit auflagestärksten Tagesteitung Tschechiens (ca. 320'000 Stück) - hat einen Artikel über das internationale Bata-Erbe veröffentlicht. Sie erinnert daran, dass dieses Jahr in der Schweiz, in Simbabwe und in Singapur Jubiläen gefeiert werden. Da Bata aus der tschechischen Stadt Zlin stammt, ist dort das Interesse am Projekt "80 Jahre leben mit Bata in Möhlin" gross.

Der Titel "Na továrníka Baťu vzpomínají v Zimbabwe, Švýcarsku i Singapuru" bedeutet "An Bata erinnern sie sich in Simbabwe, der Schweiz und Singapur". "Archiv ve Švýcarsku ukrývá fotbalový pohár Bati" ("Archiv in der Schweiz bewahrt den  Bata Fussball-Pokal auf"), lautet der Titel des Interviews mit dem Leiter des Projekts "80 Jahre leben mit Bata in Möhlin",  Tobias Ehrenbold, lautet. Das Interview wurde per E-Mail geführt. Hier der Wortlaut:

MF Dnes: Was Bata archiv in Möhlin founded in August last year? Why?

Tobias Ehrenbold: Yes, the Bata archive was founded in August 2011. It was founded because Bata had a very important impact on the history of Möhlin. When Bata stopped production in 1990 there were alot of documents destroyed (fotos, protocols, plans etc.). As head of the archive I asked several former workers and historians to gift their materials to the archiv. So we could rescure many memories for generations to come. Besides the historical relevance there are 3 reasons: 1. In 2011 the future of the Bata-Park finally was politicaly and economicaly cleared. 2. 2012 is the 80th "birthday" of the Bata side in Möhlin and the archive can now be used for exhebition 3. Many of the holders of materials are quite old - the next generation wouldn't know about the value of the martials.

Where did you gain the materials for the Bata archive?

Mostly from former Bata workers or from their relatives. A very important part comes from Markus Widmer - an architect whom had a big impact on the research of Bata. Also the new owner Jakob Müller AG gifted many materials.

Can you name the most interesting materials from the archive?

Construction plans from the very start in 1932, fotos from Swiss students in Zlin, 16mm films, vinyl records of the "Bata Marsch", posters from such important designers like Leupin or Brun. And of course shoes. It's difficult to say - I like most of the old stuff. A special object is the "Pokal des Herren J.A.Bata" - it's a football trophy. The teams of Möhlin and Hellocourt (France) played for this trophy. The names of the winning players were engraved.

What else do you organize this year?

Sonja Bata met with the mayor and the new owner of the Bata-Park. That was a great event. This saturday we opened the archive to te public. Arround 100 people visited - which was more than excepted. It was great. Living history. We will have more openings of the archive and various speeches. The biggest event will be the national day in the Bata-Park on the 1th of august with an exhebition and various events. In september there will be an oral history project with a class from Möhlin. In October there will be a release event for my book about Bata in Switzerland. There are more events, but they're not confirmed yet.
